After Discharge

  • You will be instructed on restrictions on activity: bathing, showers, stairs, driving, and exercise by your surgeon.
  • You are strongly advised not to sign any important documents or make any significant decisions for the 24 hours following your procedure.
  • You will be given instructions on food and liquids. In general, you will be able to eat, but the focus should be on staying hydrated. You may not have much appetite. That is normal.
  • In general, you should contact us for:
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Temperature to 101 degrees Fahrenheit (oral) or higher
    • Redness, pain, tenderness, drainage of the wound
    • Your surgeon will inform you of other specific warning signs at the time of your surgery.
  • Standard discharge instructions are available as downloads from the bottom of the page.
